VSA, Via its network of “elder skatesmen” can provide far more support than any “letter of support”, for your next new skatepark campaign.
We have access to experienced skaters who can advise on park design, park management strategies, events and training, and for that new park, information based on real world experience for the ever important town planning consultation meetings.
Town planning meetings are where skatepark developments are decided, and thoughtful delivery of solid evidence to counter the often unfounded fears put forward by those in opposition is required, before any thought of design and management is possible.
Our network of “Skaters-in-suits” have presented at many (often hostile) council meetings over the years and have achieved more in terms of giving skaters a voice than letters of support.
When you look at the difficult town planning history of the St Kilda Skate park, which took around 15 years from conception to construction, and you will see that the network of elder skatesmen, has been looking after skateboarders for far longer than you think!
